What is OrthoKeratology?

OrthoK is the process of gently reshaping the cornea using a specially designed contact lens mold that is worn only at night while you sleep. Myopia Management: Using Contact Lenses to Reduce Nearsightedness.
Technology has advanced to allow us to correct your vision while you sleep! Nearsighted patients can now greatly reduce their dependence on glasses or soft contact lenses. OrthoK lenses can slow the progression of myopia 50-90%. This process is a non surgical procedure for those patients that in the past have been hesitant to get lasik surgery or have been told that they are not candidates.
Scleral Contacts: Correcting Your Vision When Soft Contacts or Glasses Won't.
By utilizing a specialized lens designed called a “scleral lens” we are now able to correct ocular conditions such as keratoconus, corneal transplants, and very high prescriptions. Patients are able to achieve 20/20 vision again and many times these lenses allow better vision than any glasses would.

As the population ages, our visual demands change. After 40 years of age it becomes more difficult to read close up. We are becoming more dependent on reading glasses with our contacts. With the advent of multi-focal soft disposable contacts, now you can see at all ranges without the need of extra readers for close.
